OUR PURPOSE

Live for Lily raises awareness and funds that will go directly towards research that is dedicated to finding a cure for childhood cancers. It is a not-for-profit foundation that is committed to ensuring that we will see an end to childhood cancer.

OUR BOARD

Sianne Hester (dec)

Sianne worked in the public health system for more than 20 years, and was the mother of Lily Hester, and also to her two boys, Oliver and Archer. Along with Aaron, Sianne was the co-founder of the Live for Lily Foundation in 2016, yet sadly passed away on May 30th 2016. Her legacy is the Live for Lily Foundation and her passion and drive was to one day help cure childhood cancer.

AARON HESTER

I have been involved in teaching for as long as I can remember; I have coached all my kids’ basketball teams from the moment they could bounce a ball, but above all else I have loved being a dad to my kids. I started the Live for Lily Foundation so others don’t have to go through what we went through.

Philip Martins

Philip is a qualified accountant and a lifelong friend of Aaron and the Hester family. Philip is a father to three boys, Mac, Seamus and Fionn, and he and his family are committed to doing all they can to help the Foundation achieve its mission to one day see an end to childhood cancer. Philip is responsible for the financial management and governance activities of the Foundation and various operational and administration activities including communications, stakeholder management and sponsorships, event management and brand awareness.

 

 

Elizabeth Stubbs

Liz is a lawyer and co-founder of Market Fair. Liz has a tax and pro bono legal background, specialising in assisting not-for-profit clients and disadvantaged individuals in a range of tax and legal issues. Liz brings both legal and board skills and experience to the Foundation. Liz has a young son and shares with her fellow board members a passion for reducing, and ultimately eliminating, childhood cancers and the suffering experienced by those children’s family and friends due to cancer and related issues.

Butterfly Ball Event Committee



Philip Martins

In addition to his role as Director & CFO of the Foundation, Philip heads up the Butterfly Ball event committee, leading a group of extremely passionate individuals in bringing together the Foundation’s amazing annual gala charity ball, held at Crown Palladium each year, to raise vital funds for childhood cancer research.

Carol Martins

Carol is a primary school teacher and mother to three boys, Mac, Seamus and Fionn. Carol is a close friend of the Hester family and is proud to be part of the Live for Lily team, working together to help find a cure for childhood cancer.

Alison Johnson

Alison has worked in the corporate travel management industry for over 25 years. She is a mother of two boys, Oliver and Flynn, who first met the Hester family when their kids attended daycare together. Alison is a passionate, community minded person, committed to making a difference and finding a cure for childhood cancer.

Rebecca Rusinovic

Rebecca is a Commerce and Law student currently working for ‘Yes Queen’, a not-for-profit initiative working to future proof workplace bullying. Passionate about travel and human rights, Rebecca was involved with the Live for Lily Foundation as a volunteer during high school and is now a member of the Butterfly Ball event committee.

Anita Layzell

Anita is a freelance graphic designer and artist who is passionate about volunteering. She is married to Paul and they have one daughter, Bethany. After being introduced to the Live for Lily Foundation, and their committed volunteers, they are eager to be part of the endeavour to end childhood cancer.

Gus Carfi

Gus has worked in senior operations roles across the financial service sector for over 15 years. He is married to Jayne and is a father of two wonderful kids, Harriet and Elijah. Gus has seen first-hand the devastating effects of childhood cancer and is passionate about finding a cure to this horrible disease.

Ride for Lily Event Committee



Aaron Hester

Katie Ball

Katie enjoys bringing her project management skills to the Foundation by organising and taking part in the Ride for Lily. She is honoured to be part of the Hester family and the Foundation, and is passionate about getting people involved in such a great cause to bring an end to childhood cancer, one bike ride at a time.

Alison Johnson

In addition to being a member of the Butterfly Ball event committee, Alison is also a committed member of the Ride for Lily team. Helping to bring this incredible event to life and ensuring the operational aspects and running of the event are seamless, Alison helps to make sure all of our riders are treated to an absolutely amazing experience, both on and off the bike.

Nerissa McCartney

Nerissa is a teacher in the Catholic Education system and has worked as a project manager in the not-for-profit sector for many years. Nerissa is the mother of two boys, Lucas and Aidan, and is a close friend of the Hester family. Nerissa shares the passion of the Live for Lily team in their work towards to ensuring that we see an end to childhood cancer.

Janelle Hester

Janelle is a secondary Physical Education teacher and is married with three beautiful girls, Jordan, Ebony and Kiara. She has become involved with the Live for Lily Foundation after witnessing the effects losing a child to cancer has had on her brother Aaron. In memory of her niece Lily, Janelle has taken part in two previous Ride for Lily events and is now looking forward to using this experience as part of the Ride for Lily organising committee.

Julie Mundy

Julie worked in real estate for over 15 years before deciding to become a proud stay at home mum to Oscar, Olivia and Kobe. Julie first had the pleasure of meeting the Hester family through her husband Daniel Mundy, who is a long-time friend. The Mundy family have been active supporters of the Live for Lily Foundation from the beginning. She is looking forward to being part of the Ride for Lily organising committee to help put an end to childhood cancer.

Daniel Mundy

Daniel met Aaron way back in 1993 at Ballarat University. Married to Julie and a father to three beautiful kids Oscar, Olivia and Kobe, he shares a love of life and fitness and believes no child should lose the chance to be a kid and experience growing up as a result of cancer. He believes together we can find a cure.
